This embroidered artwork named Hólavallagarður was stitched by Korey Rowswell. 

"Magic is in the details, such as a subtle pop of color on a collar or the delicate finishing of a seam. These tiny miracles make an art piece come alive. Preserving and amplifying these small instances of wonder is a key component of my art practice.

I find endless amazement in the plant world, at the systems developed through varied evolution. I use fabric and thread to capture flashes of the mechanical wonder that is botanical structures. Through arranging these constructions, I investigate ways of interpreting space and replication in the environment.

Repurposing and reusing materials to highlight items designed for utility is the foundation of my studio practice. I am interested in the way that these materials can be used to create new meanings and to challenge traditional ideas about gender roles. Through these different avenues, my work expands upon concepts of gender, waste, and biology."  - Korey Rowswell
